Welcome……
……..to the Computer Assisted Genealogy Group – Cleveland Area Website!
Our organization aims to promote, educate and facilitate the use of computer technology for genealogical and family history research by means of educational programs, lectures, workshops and other events related to computer assisted genealogy, and through collaboration with other like-purposed organizations.
As stated in “The Source: A Guidebook to American Genealogy” by Juliana Smith:
“Computers have changed the face of family history forever. Today’s technology makes it easier to gather and organize information, communicate with other genealogists, publish and share our findings, and preserve our family’s history. Information gathered over time, once entered into genealogy software, can be reorganized and reformatted with the click of a mouse. Family databases in electronic format can easily be shared with relatives by e-mail, on websites, or on removable media like CD-ROMs, DVDs, or diskettes.”
We hold monthly meetings, offering a wide range of programs for both beginners and the more advanced researchers, are usually held on the third Saturday of the month. Our home base is the Fairview Branch Library. Meetings are held in person, using hybrid and also on Zoom.
In addition to our monthly meetings, we offer monthly User Group meetings on specific topics of interest.
Membership is open to anyone.
