Irene B. Walters will present a program on “US Courts System – History and Records”
The system of US Courts holds many records that can be both helpful and confusing in your genealogical researching. Come learn some terminology, history, record keeping, and record searching practices that hopefully will alleviate some confusion when navigating the world of the US Courts System. Special emphasis will be on federal courts and “circuit” courts.
Irene B. Walters came to Houston Public Library’s Family History Research Center at the Clayton Library Campus from New York in 1997 after receiving her librarian degree in Buffalo. As well as helping researchers at the library, Irene coordinates the acquisition of new materials for the library, and gives talks on many aspects of genealogical research both in person and online. Irene’s own genealogy research has taken her lines back through New York state into France, Ireland, and Germany. Though, like all families some ancestors are being more difficult.
